Hikvision Requires Private Xinjiang Meeting With UK Camera Commissioner, Refused
Hikvision is requiring that a meeting on its Xinjiang operations with the UK government's top video surveillance official be kept private, a condition that has been refused.
"As an independent officeholder advocating for transparency on the part of Hikvision I cannot agree to such conditions", Biometrics And Surveillance Camera Commissioner Fraser Sampson told IPVM.
Hikvision's refusal to openly discuss this topic shows its unwillingness to address its extensive Xinjiang operations in detail, even to a senior UK government official, increasing the risk of further UK scrutiny.
