Cisco has released a whitepaper making the case for Cisco centric security solutions for transportation deployments. Specifically, the paper targets and advocates the use of US stimulus funding.

While direct spending on security projects is fairly minimal (see our analysis of the US stimulus impact on security), $40 Billion USD has been allocated for transportation projects. Of course, the overwhelmingly majority is for building roads, bridges, highways, etc. However, some ancillary funds will certainly be spent on security.

In the paper, Cisco focuses on the benefits of integrating various Cisco products to solve security problems. The paper cites 3 examples: a City in Texas, Amtrak and a New Zealand airport.
