So while "Other" may be down, according the the chart it still seems to be the leaders over the specifically named mentioned manufacturers. However, given so many of the other are Hikvision and Dahua OEM's, that would still boost their lead even further, correct?
Favorite SMB Recorder Manufacturers 2017
Low cost cameras have been a major force in the small to medium business (SMB) market (as our 2015 SMB favorites and 2017 SMB camera favorites) have shown.
But, our 2015 SMB recorder favorites showed strong results for more expensive, Western recorders / VMSes.
Would this change in 2017?
7 top manufacturer choices were revealed in IPVM's survey results of 135 integrators. In this note, we examine how Chinese companies like Dahua and Hikvision fared against Western companies like Exacq and Milestone.

Yes, if you take the "others" that were mentioned that were actually Hikvision or Dahua equipment, it would add a couple percentage points to each.
Can you reflect geographical preference ? North America versus Europe versus ..
The Axis guys stopped by the other day to help me with something and ended up showing me their new Companion line. It's actually not half bad and priced reasonably. I do wonder if it's too little too late or if now is a good time to come in and really pull some business from Hikvision. It's good to see Axis making a real effort to come out with a low cost solution. There are some limitations I really don't like but they're not deal breakers by any means.
Anyone been using Salient (www.salientsys.com)? We've done a couple and so far they've been nice. The mobile app is super responsive, best I've ever seen. I am not endorsing them as I don't have enough experience with them yet. But I have done 50+ Exacq systems and a half-dozen Milestone systems and so far I like what I see from Salient. The combination of their re-branded Razberi recorder with Axis cams has been good, and if you add perimeter defender it works great at eliminating swaying trees from the motion recording. It's more expensive than a cheap Hik integrated NVR or Axis Companion system, but still what I would consider SMB and it is on par with Exacq/Avigilon/Milestone in terms of price.
Jason, thanks for your feedback. See Salient VMS Tested, curious how your experience has differed or matched our test experience?
What is "SMB"?
#2, sorry about that. I added the definition the first line of the report to avoid any issues for others. Thanks!
