In an interview with Security Sales and Integration, Cisco commented on sales progress in physical security and the impact of the recession. Key points included:
- Gaming market for security has 'really suffered across the board in certain security deployments'
- Cisco has 'experienced pretty healthy growth' in physical security
- "More focus being placed on pilots and gradual deployments to make sure that the product really does work as promised"
On revenue growth, Cisco made a similar point in our September 2009 examination of their OEM/partnership with Pelco. It seems reasonable that Cisco's revenue in physical security would grow because (a) they only entered recently and (b) they are leveraging Cisco's sales force. On the other hand, that does not prove Cisco's overall product or competitive strength in this market.
