PSA Security Market Metrics

Author: John Honovich, Published on Nov 15, 2011

PSA Security, a US based cooperative for security integrators, has released an interesting video that touches on market trends that they are seeing across their 200+ members.

Here are the most interesting points we found:

  • Strong sales for Hybrid NVRs for upgrades of existing analog systems
  • More than 50% of new installs are now selecting IP cameras
  • IP growing 'faster than what was originally thought'
  • Manufacturers, like Pelco, have huge inventory of hard drives to weather shortage

All of these points are in line with what we have been reporting this year. It is very useful to hear another organization talk openly about these points.

For more on these topics, see: our recent debate on IP vs analog sales in the comments of the low cost camera report, our Market Has Already Tipped to IP report and our discussion about hard drive hoarding and price gouging.

PSA regularly posts videos and blog posts on their Twitter feed - though try to ignore their periodic vendor spam 'articles'.
