Pelco Sarix's Support of MATE Examined

By: John Honovich, Published on Oct 17, 2009

Pelco announced that their Sarix IP/Megapixel cameras will now support MATE video analytics. This is especially interesting because earlier in 2009, Pelco released support for ObjectVideo.

In an e-mail exchange with Pelco, Pelco confirms that MATE will be compatible with Sarix but not run on Sarix cameras. Additionally, Pelco is not re-selling MATE.

By contrast, Pelco is offering Object Video embedded on Sarix cameras (specifically the IXE20 [link no longer available]models). This will make acquiring and using Object Video on Pelco cameras significantly easier.

[MATE has disappeared from the Western commercial market. We believe they floundered and were acquired by a small Chinese manufacturer, refocused for their local market.]
