Mobotix Camera Installation Tool

Author: John Honovich, Published on Jan 20, 2010

Mobotix has announced a new camera installation tool that allows connecting and powering one's laptop and IP camera through this tool, called the NPA-PoE set. The tool requires an external battery or connection to a power outlet. The MSRP is listed at $138 USD.

Compare to:

  • The Axis t8412 is a battery operated device that has an integrated screen, allowing for tuning/focusing without a laptop. The device also provides PoE power to a connected IP camera. The main downside is the price - over $600 on-line. The Axis hand held unit only supports Axis cameras.
  • The Veracity PinPoint device requires no battery but must be connected to a local PoE power network connection. The device can then connect and power a laptop and the IP camera. This device has an MSRP of only $49.99

Focusing/installing cameras was a key element in our recent debate on ease of installation for IP vs analog cameras.
