For a dollar a month I can create a completely custom analytic on one camera to solve some unique use case. How is that expensive? Are there other offerings with this level of functionality priced lower?
I agree in the example you give that this would not be considered expensive. However, that does not include the cost of the internal development of the custom model or the cost of licensing a 3rd party non-Azure model.
In the example we provided, per Microsoft, the pricing for processing and streaming is $6-$7 per camera per month. That is not expensive on its own, as long as one uses analytics that Azure offers or an open source model.
However, that example also accounts for continuous video, which may not be required, but as with most SaaS cloud offerings it is priced per minute, potentially more unpredictable than a turnkey analytic provider.
My understanding this offering is VMS agnostic? Long term, I wonder, is this a competitive offering to say Genetec stratocast(which uses and promotes Azure) or other cloud VMS/SASSs, ? Or is it always a "bolt" on "value add-on"?
