Trying to schedule the show in October is a non-starter. The fact that they are trying to pull this off smacks of desperation. The organizers, Reed Exhibitions and SIA, seem to have inflated the attendance levels recently. I have heard multiple complaints from marketing departments that have centered around the perceived lack of value with ISC West in recent years. Booth activity has not reflected the number of attendees that organizers have claimed. Simply giving back the money companies have already invested for the 2020 show, or allowing vendors to use that money in 2021 would go along way in restoring some of their recently lost credibility.

This has turned into a fiasco, and it is really disappointing to see how exhibitors are basically being held hostage to this show.

Many companies are doing layoffs, pay cuts, or other things to ride out this situation. Those that are not are still seeing significant drops in revenue.

Almost every company could put their ISC West 2020 deposits to better use paying employees or stabilizing their businesses.

At the very least, there is no way we need ISC West 2020 in October and ISC West 2021 in March. I do not see Manufacturers, or Integrators having the revenue and travel budget to justify that.

#3, thanks for sharing that article, so a collection of major watch brands, angered over the lack of refunds from the aborted show, are creating a rival event:

In an unprecedented move, five big watch brands have banded together to make a huge announcement about withdrawing from the Baselworld 2021 show. The big five: Rolex, Patek Philippe, Chanel, Chopard and Rolex sister-brand Tudor. Together they have announced plans to exit Baselworld – heretofore the largest watch exhibition in the world — for 2021. The announcement (distributed by Rolex) comes as no surprise – as open letters about the Fair’s plans and its organizer’s handling of refunds, among other things, have been paramount this past week.

Honestly, what is wrong with a webinar? Have a virtual show displaying your products, and the camera views, along with cut sheets to download, and a live person to answer questions in real time. Make that person available 8 hours a day for three days, and have a virtual expo hosted on one website. Because of the low cost, attendance would be way up, and it would be cheaper to produce.

This whole thing is pathetic. Reed's name (while never known for working with Vendors UNLESS they are "Top Tier") is in the mud and wont be coming out of it. SIA is their Toady and is playing the fool. Time to look at alternate shows (like GSX...ESX and maybe a new one to be named later). Cancel the damn show! Why? Lets start off with common sense. REED WILL NOT BE ABLE TO LEGALLY HAVE THE SHOW THIS YEAR DUE TO Federal/State/Local regulations. Does anyone really think that in what? 6 short months that social distancing rules, lockdowns etc will be lifted? We will have a vaccine in place and administered to all? Where are they getting there information from? My child knows this, and yet, "Professionals" (LOL) in our indsutry DO NOT? Think about it everyone. Do we all really want to trust in an organization that knows so little about whats going on in the world with our very livelihoods?

IF , by some amazing amount of GOOD LUCK, we find the lockdowns over, a vaccine found and administered to most people by September, will anyone really want to even go? I would think that most of us will be digging out of the worst mess that many of us will have witnessed in our lives from both a personal and professional persepctive. There will be no money for flights, hotels, meals, cars and the extras like a trade show to attend as an exhibitor, let alone as an attendee/visitor. There will HOPEFULLY be a hige backlog of work that needs to be taken care of and the last thing anyone is going to be wanting to do is mess around in Las Vegas when many will be fighting for their lives to come back!
