Hikvision USA Spent $17 Million Lobbying, Double That Of Huawei
Hikvision has spent at least $17 million lobbying the US government in the past few years, an amount that doubles even what Huawei has spent in the same time period, IPVM research reveals.
Most notably, former Senator David Vitter who became a "proud member of the Hikvision team" in 2019 continues to be a core lobbyist for Hikvision.
Despite this, US government action against Hikvision continues to expand, including the 2018 NDAA ban, 2019 human rights abuse sanctions, 2020 listing of "Communist Chinese Military Companies", 2021 FCC declaration as a national security threat, and 2022 planned FCC authorization ban based on the Secure Equipment Act passage.
In this report, IPVM examines how the lobbying money was spent, Hikvision's possible benefits, and how its activity compares to other foreign corporations.
