They are the largest video surveillance manufacturer in the world and they are in the middle of a conflict with the US government, so no, we are not going to 'get less' Hikvision right now.
Our responsibility, at the same time, is to continue to cover other companies and technologies and, as I listed above, we are certainly doing so.
Let’s hope so. This article in particular struck me as an advertisement. I know it wasn’t but it’s the only way I was made aware of the big sale going on and all of the details. While That may not have been it’s intent it had the same effect.
This article in particular struck me as an advertisement.
That is funny. In between our multi-year campaign to expose Hikvision's deceptive PRC government control, cybersecurity issues and profiting from human rights abuses, we are running advertisements for their flash sales?
The flash sale ended yesterday (Wednesday). We learned about it on Monday, the day before it started. We held the release until Wednesday afternoon and newsletter inclusion until this morning (after the sale ended) to not inadvertently help the sale.
Like or dislike Hikvision, such an unprecedented sale is news as it shows the state of a company.
Just to keep the Hik thing going..... I've always liked their product. If they could fix all the security issues and openly have John test them, then despite who they sell to that some don't like,. I'd buy them again. Until the security flaws get fixed and tested as fixed, they are dead in the water. The quality of their product was good and gave me best bang for my buck

Will there be a day when Hik isn’t at the top of the article list on here?

My email alert has Hik as number 2 bold topic below startups. But whatever, your hair splitting doesn’t negate my point. Can we get less Hik?

Now Dahua is giving away a free camera though it is a much less expensive camera and requires a $5,000 minimum purchase, not $3,000:
