Genetec Access Control Company Profile

By: Brian Rhodes, Published on Mar 02, 2016

Genetec is certainly best known for its VMS capabilities, but they have had their own access control management software for many years. Indeed, their main pitch is 'unification' of both VMS and ACS in a single software solution.

In our 11th access company profile, we examine Genetec's Synergis access control platform:

  • Comparing Genetec to their access competition
  • Examining their management and client software
  • Reviewing their product and support costs
  • Covering their hardware and wireless support
  • Explaining their video integration
  • Examining Genetec's cloud capabilities
  • Detailing competitive weaknesses

Brian,

Great article. I'm loving the access control profile series. Is Software House in the works?

Yes sir, we plan to publish profiles on S2, AMAG, and Software House/C-CURE to round the series out.

Nice. Looking forward to the S2 one as well. I love the graphs. Thx.

[UPDATE]:

Genetec tells us that Synergis will be officially supporting Allegion / Schlage AD series locks in the future, with an official announcement coming around mid-April 2016.

The company is planning to have a demo of the integration on the floor at ISC West.

it would be really helpful if you can revise & update the content.

really nice article as always. thanks brian & thanks IPVM

We will be doing updates on several access company profiles in the coming months. I will reach out to Genetec and queue an update of Synergis as appropriate.

See our: Genetec Launches Cloud Access Control (Synergis SaaS) for clarification on that development since this was initially published.
