Flock Risks False Felony Stops With Previously Stolen Vehicles, Detective Says “Not The Flock System’s Fault"

By Isabella Cheng, Published Nov 11, 2021, 12:43pm EST

False traffic stops conducted on previously stolen vehicles can be particularly dangerous because they are treated as high-risk. As Flock Safety expands aggressively, how it will deal with inevitable false stops will become an important issue, as a Detective recently discussed.

IPVM Image

In this report, IPVM examines the risk of mistaken felony traffic stops when a previously stolen then recovered car is not removed from crime hotlists. We include comments from Flock on how the "suppress" feature might mitigate these concerns and feedback from the ACLU and privacy advocate EFF.
