Bill Introduced To Ban Dahua And Hikvision From Obtaining FCC Certification
A bill that proposes banning the FCC from approving new Hikvision and Dahua products has been introduced by a Republican and a Democratic Senator.
Last month, as IPVM reported, an FCC Commissioner urged just this by calling to "eliminate" the "backdoor" of non-federal US Hikvision/Dahua purchases in March. The commissioner praised this latest bill, saying it would "strengthen America's national security".
The FCC regulates all radio frequency devices and has approved hundreds of Hikvision and Dahua items to date. If a ban on new approvals was passed it could cripple the companies' US business.
