Ezviz = Hikvision = PRC Government

By John Honovich, Published Jan 08, 2016, 12:00am EST (Info+)

Ezviz has seemingly come out of nowhere to become a major player in consumer electronics / security. Unfortunately, Ezviz consistently hides the truth of who they are from the mainstream press.

Ezviz claims to be an American company (e.g., "EZVIZ is a North American company headquartered in City of Industry, California.") but Ezviz is a brand of PRC based Hikvision, which is primarily owned by the PRC government.

Way to go IPVM for exposing the primative marketing gimmicks, state ownership distortion of the market, and blatant security defects of this HIK entity

I really don't know where they were going with that name either. Sounds more like a highway toll collection company than a camera.

It could be worse, in China the brand is actually known as Ying Shi, which we call fluorite, a mineral to which healing properties are ascribed.

Horrible name....Possibly, but I would like to have a nickel for every camera they sell and they can call it whatever they want!

I mean, its pretty obvious who runs and owns EZVIZ...

They are both located in the same facility/address.

And both of those are simply country branch offices. EZVIZ is headquartered in the USA like the Queen of England is from China...

"Office"...not "offices"....hell they don't even have suites they can claim are different. Neither are clearly headquartered here, as we already know, but if anyone ever second guessed they were not in cahoots, this would be a prime example they share the same walls and roof....regardless of what they vaguely claim...

At Intersec in Dubai this week HIK is making no secret of their EZVIZ business.

It also seems squarely targeted at the likes of GoPro rather than the security sector, hence the bike on the stand...

Good feedback, thanks!

It appears to be primarily a US / NA tactic then. I am curious what their rationale is for hiding it in the US versus being public in other countries.
