DVTel Hires Avigilon and Genetec Sales LeadersBy John Honovich, Published Aug 28, 2015, 12:00am EDT
DVTel Raised $9 Million this year and now they are starting to put that money to work, hiring sales leaders from two of their biggest competitors, Avigilon and Genetec.
In this note, we examine the moves and their potential impact.
[link no longer available]From Avigilon, DVTel hired Brian Johnpaoli [link no longer available] who had been at Avigilon for over 7 years, most recently as Senior Sales Director, Northeast North America. Our understanding was that this was an actual resignation that happened before the most recent round of Avigilon exec turnover. Johnpaoli will runs sales for the NA East Coast at DVTel.
[link no longer available]From Genetec, DVTel hired Jason Glover [link no longer available], who had been at Genetec for over 5 years, including time as Director of Sales - Western North America. Glover had also previously worked for VMS provider OnSSI. He will run sales for NA Central at DVTel.
These are positive moves for DVTel. Having sales leaders that are not only experienced but coming from companies they want to compete against, helps greatly. On the VMS side, DVTel certainly aims to match up / beat Genetec for large scale projects. Plus since DVTel offers their own cameras and analytics as well, that puts them in the solution market, like Avigilon.
DVTel's Marketing Poor
Regardless of who they have in sales, one of DVTel's biggest problems is lack of brand awareness / recognition / interest. For example, DVTel tied with NUUO and AgentVI in our Ranking 95 Surveillance Manufacturers Interest report, far, far below Avigilon and Genetec. Beyond that, we rarely receive requests from integrators or end users on DVTel. They will need to improve here to empower their sales investments.
