Analytics manufacturers frequently turn away custom video analytics requests, as they can be challenging and costly to tackle. A recent startup, Boulder AI, with its DDNCam, is doing the opposite, building its entire business model on tackling these kinds of projects.

Sep 13, 2017This is an interesting, and ambitious, approach. But the niche markets they're targeting are not underserved. Detecting anomalies on a conveyor belt is simply machine vision, good luck displacing Cognex. Fish counting and characterization with video analytics has been done very well for years. Ditto for vehicle counting and traffic pattern analysis. Looks like they've got a solution looking for a problem, and that's a tough place to be. I hope they hit on an application that's a good match for their technology.

Mar 28, 2019I see Boulder AI is now releasing a new camera using the Entropix technology. Are there any other cameras that will be released soon using this technology? I'm curious how much the licensing will be. I've been watching for Entropix to be in a released product and it seems it will be.
