One mistake Dahua can rectify is not having a VP / head of sales. It has been amazing that Dahua hired dozens of sales people but not a head of sales. Organizationally, it is a problem. Not having a true public face is a problem. When this person comes in, s/he will likely then want to make changes, bring in some of their own people, etc.

It is a backwards way of doing things, especially since they obviously have the money to spend considering how many mid-level people they already hired.

Anyone want to guess who the future Dahua Americas VP of Sales will be?

The new Dahua Americas VP of Sales - maybe Steven Rea ?  (He is currently their US Director of Business Development)

Maybe, but since his last position was as a BDM at Mobotix, I am guessing they would want someone with previous VP / management experience and greater name recognition.

It will be interesting to see who they get. On the plus side they have money and there are not a lot of these jobs available. On the negative side, Dahua's poor reputation and track record in the US. However, I definitely think they will get named / experienced people to take a chance (e.g., Janet Fenner in marketing).

What's up with the Dahua and the South American Contingent?

May 2017 New Dahua CEO Li Ke, formerly President of South America - Huawei

Sep 2017 New Dahua USA President William Chow, formerly President of South America - Dahua

Sep 2017 New Dahua GM of UK Lilia Zhang, formerly GM Latin America

It seems like Dahua is doing well in South America (even beyond those items listed above, from other sources). Anyone with South American intel, care to comment?

What I wonder about with Dahua is that selling into North America is a lot different than South America. It strikes me that Dahua's strengths play better into South America than North America. Anyone particularly agree or disagree?

Dahua is doing VERY well in South America, especially in Brazil. Mostly due to the successful cooperation with Intelbras (local market share leader by far, according to IHS). In Brazil (and some other countries in Latin America) HIKVISION is struggling to beat Dahua and its partners, so Mr. Chow made quite a reputation on having the "secret formula to beat Hik"

On an unrelated note, you know a company has been on a hiring spree when you look at group photos, and you know more than half of their people!

As long as final decisions are made at Dahua HQ in China, it won't matter much who the CEO of Dahua USA is.

His lack of direct experience in North America will pose some challenges, though other members of the US leadership may help him get up to speed on North American market dynamics.

He's got the corporate sense of humor, that's for sure!
