Correcting Dahua USA's Misleading FCC 'Interim Freeze'
Dahua is misleadingly calling the FCC's prohibition on future equipment authorizations an "interim freeze," an incorrect use of the term that deceives the public and continues the trend of Dahua misleading others about the FCC process.
In this report, IPVM examines the FCC prohibitions, as well as the misleading phrase Dahua is using to deceive the public.

In any event, the FCC's Order does nothing of the sort. Rather, the Order prohibits Dahua from securing authorizations "…until such time as the Commission approves [Dahua's] plans and measures that will ensure that such equipment will not be marketed and sold for 'the purpose of public safety, security of government facilities, physical surveillance of critical infrastructure, or other national security purposes.'" Given that Dahua has operated under these restrictions for several years and its products already are intended to serve private sector customers, we believe we will be able to address the Commission's concerns on this point and clear the way for future authorizations. In terms of the specifics of how we provide the FCC the required assurances, we are still waiting for the Order to be published on the Federal Register. Once that has happened and we have had time to develop an appropriate plan, we will share that with our stakeholders. But as we have made clear – Dahua USA is 100% committed to the US market and we have every intention of doing what is required of us to ensure our long-term ability to operate here. [emphasis added]
