Dahua executive Wayne Hurd and his team are allegedly the real victims of Dahua's ongoing human rights abuses against ethnic minorities, at least according to Hurd, dismissing the extensive evidence as an "ideological crusade" against his company.

Hurd has demanded an apology from IPVM. To the contrary, we reiterate our request for Hurd and his fellow Dahua colleagues to resign from Dahua and take a stand against human rights abuses.

So terrible are Dahua's actions that even Dahua HQ, when caught for at least the 3rd time specifying racial analytics, this week acknowledged that they were "deeply troubled and concerned about the information" on their own website (ironically so, of course).

For years, Hurd has used his position as one of the most senior and well-known executives in the North American video surveillance market to give Dahua cover and validation.

2 years ago, Hurd and his team sold tens of millions of dollars of rigged fever cameras, generating immense wealth for themselves and Dahua HQ, while endangering the public who trusted entities profiteering from the COVID pandemic.

Just days after IPVM revealed and Dahua admitted to its race and skin color analytics camera specifications, Hurd and his team, refused to publicly address these serious issues (we went and asked him), laughing it up at a trade show to which we posted:

Hurd's response was to demand an apology and brush off these issues as "ideological":

The evidence of Dahua's abuse is clear and lengthy. For example, a few videos that provide context:

The best explanation for Hurd's demand is what he said. He believes he is protecting his team and that is what a leader should do.

An even better leader would admit the unethical actions they participated in, acknowledge the harm that they have caused and guide his team to work elsewhere.

Hurd, who has been aware of this for years, refuses to acknowledge or even address the mounting evidence. But that is his problem and, increasingly, his legacy.

However, the industry's problem is tolerating abuses of increasingly powerful AI video surveillance. Otherwise, we will face, rightfully, the same reckoning that many other industries have faced for abusing the public's trust.

Wayne, do the right thing and lead your team, not to defend and enable these abuses, but to stand up against them.
