Cernium to Sell Home IP Video on Amazon.com

Author: John Honovich, Published on Nov 21, 2009

Cernium announced that their home IP video product, Archerfish Quattrro is now available for sale at Amazon.com.

For $1,699, the kit includes 2 cameras and a smart DVR appliance.

While on-line distribution is an increasing trend, the sheer price point of this product will be a major barrier. Compared to the top selling Security & Surveillance products on Amazon, the Archerfish Quattro is 5 to 10 times more expensive. Though Archerfish provides some advances not available on the other systems, it will be hard for most users to justify that price premium.

By contrast, the top selling Security & Surveillance product is the Vue, available on-line for $299 which we reviewed in Nov 2009.

A potential better fit from Cernium is their Nov 2009 announced Archerfish Solo which is a smart camera with built-in storage that will likely cost significantly less than the Quattrro. See our overview of the Archerfish Solo.
