it's true that we continue to receive tremendous interest from integrators wanting to capitalize on customer demand for our solution. We do our best to keep channel conflict to a minimum in this process so that all of our partners can continue to grow their businesses.
We asked them to elaborate on how they 'keep channel conflict to a minimum' and if they respond, we will share.
Re: How Brivo keeps 'channel conflict to a minimum', they responded:
We evaluate the potential size of each local market vs. the number of current partners and businesses generated in that market to help make the decisions.
While I am not disputing your anecdote, how often will there be 3 dealers of the same closed type product in the same neighborhood that are not competitors?
I mean statistically. It's like you saying "There's a guy in the NBA who can't dunk. " Well, sure there might be a few examples but it's far from the norm.
My same point about dealers in the same neighborhood, more often than not, they are competitors.
Indeed, by the nature of the facts, they are competitors. Let me clarify, friendly competitors.
Manufacturers need more than a single dealer in an area to validate to end users the options for the future in case of issues, as well as for mandatory competitive bids.
Smart RSM’s, when adding customers know the right way to prevent upsetting the apple cart while packing in more quality fruit. Not so smart RSM’s just toss on good and bad fruit hoping it doesn’t tip.
Does anyone know if Brivo still have a Cellular module option? for an outdoor installation with no network. if so, does anyone have any good/bad experience?
I missed on doing this survey, but I agree that Brivo is a solid, reliable product with good support most of the time.
I also believe they are too greedy in their price per door model, where they could have easily gotten the 800 lock project (mentioned in negative survey) if not for greed.
They are well positioned, but hardly a solid outlook if their greed continues. Competitors should and will undercut that greed soon and Brivo better be ahead of that game or lose market share.
How is it too greedy? You're paying for a service that is hosted in the cloud on servers that use bandwidth. All of that costs money. You're also paying for continued updates to the service that includes upgrades overtime. Their pricing structure tapers off after 12+ doors and retail on that is $4/mo. per reader. How much cheaper you want to get for the service at that point... Compared to how much a service agreement and maintenance costs are going to be with on site hardware such as servers and client workstations I don't see how their pricing is too greedy.
We used Brivo for a couple of installs and was not impressed with it. The software is very very limiting. We used Paxton for awhile and thought Brivo would be better. We ended up moving to Feenics. Feenics has some work to due on the user friendly side, but Feenics can do whatever you need it to.....I can't say the same about Brivo.
Addendum: While Brivo's net favorability was roughly similar inside and outside the US, non-US respondents far more frequently voted "Don't Know" for Brivo, with ~51%, compared to just ~28% inside the US.
Brivo is a US company with business primarily concentrated in the US, which matches those results.

ADT loves "Brivo" and "Eagle Eye" because of Ken Francis, a former ADT executive consultant, who was hired by Dean Drako to win the ADT account.
