This looks identical to what I saw on a FLIR presentation. Does FLIR OEM the Briefcam technology for their cameras? Do other companies do this as well?
Briefcam Video Synopsis Examined
Avigilon says their Appearance Search will transform surveillance, but only if you only use Avigilon products.
Rival platforms will look for an open search alternative.
BriefCam, though clearly a niche of a niche, has been the best known of the open search offerings.
In this report, we examine BriefCam, and analyze their optimization claims.

Yes, FLIR does OEM BriefCam for their FX security cameras. FLIR's term for it is "Rapid Recap".
Ryan, we did a test of Axxon time compressor here. We have been coordinating with Agent VI and are starting a test of them in the near future.
Question: What kind of hardware was used to obtain the above mentioned tests?
We did not test Briefcam in this report. Are you referring to their demo videos?
When you say "Video processing is typically initiated manually by the operator and takes ~4-5 minutes per hour of selected video to fully complete". what kind of hardware is needed to get this result? and in case we have 10 videos to be processed, how much time would it take for the system to conclude results?.
In my experience when I comes to Briefcam the more you spend on hardware the faster the video is processed. It will be interesting to see the difference when they switch to GPU processing and what that does to the overall hardware cost of the solution.
I asked Briefcam for their current hardware recommendations for processing 1080p video.
Will report back when they respond.
The 4-5 minutes it takes to process 1 hour of video are benchmarked on a machine running Intel Xeon E5-2666 v3 with clock speed of 2.9Ghz. The scenes are of moderate activity and resolution is 1080p.We recommend different types of servers based on the expected peak load introduced by the user. Peak load is how many hours of video is expected to be processed in an hour.
Brian,
At ISC EAST last week, a sergeant from Hartford PD had a presentation on how Briefcam helps his department to combat crime. One case was mentioned where before they head out to a area for reported drug dealer activity, a synopsis was run to quickly pinpoint a particular home. Foot traffic to it excesses 50 or so on daily basis. Nailed it in no time. Thought it was interesting to share here.
Sounds like the same guy that was at ASIS on their behalf as well. He did have some good use cases, though I question how "quickly" the analysis runs, but even if it took a few hours, it would save them a good amount of manual reviewing or "stakeout" style work.
Yeah, must be the same guy. Anyway, I spoke to his young assistant briefly, they haul all video to a centralized control room where the Briefcam servers are. Run it for a day before heading out in the morning. Yeah, it's time saving case indeed.
