"Place not your faith in kings."Not even friendly ones.
"Kings is mostly rapscallions..."
A US Senator, a US Congresswoman, and prominent PRC China thought leaders defended IPVM after a new Axios investigation revealed that Hikvision asked the US government to take legal action against IPVM. Watch the 2-minute video below to learn more:
No action was ever taken against IPVM and, as IPVM explained last summer when this letter was sent, this regulation is not applicable to what IPVM does.
Hikvision also attacked IPVM when it quit the Security Industry Association, rather than be expelled, as its cross-town rival Dahua was.
IPVM received broad support from the public.
Senator Marc Rubio of Florida defended IPVM:
Congresswoman Tenney of New York defended IPVM:
Bethany Allen-Ebrahimian, PRC expert and China reporter at Axios shared:
PRC expert Bill Bishop of Sinocism declared:
FCC Commissioner Carr responded:
Related, the FCC plans to ban equipment authorizations of covered PRC companies, including Hikvision.
Hikvision's letter is an effort to bully us, an independent US small business. We are proud to expose bad actors both in the USA and PRC, reinforcing the value of freedom of speech and press.
Update (01/19/22): Senator Rubio and Congresswoman Tenney sent a public letter to Congressional ethics officials on January 18, defending IPVM and warning of any similar efforts by PRC China corporations to undermine US critics. They wrote:
We urge you to not allow our transparent and open system to be cynically exploited by firms like Hikvision, which has been sanctioned by the U.S. government...

Hikvision’s efforts to silence dissent using your offices will likely be replicated by other malign entities tied to the CCP. Congress should take no part in these efforts.

just had my supplier try to quote me a bunch of Dauha product. Must be trying to unload all the Chinese spy hardware they can before crap hits the fan
Seriously?! Going after a small, niche publication that only makes money from memberships? If you can't buy em, bully em.
IPVM isn't huge, but I guarantee their constant investigative reporting has played a large part in the Hikua saga.
I am not and don't disagree with you but take a step back and soak this in. It is hard to comprehend this behavior when you put everything in context. IPVM has done nothing but reveal truth and yet the PRC is after them. The bigger picture here is what I am referring to. Truth is being attacked not just IPVM.
Kind of makes you wonder what other 'truths' out there are being silenced
Truth is being attacked not just IPVM.
I agree, and I see your point. It's mind boggling to see such a blatant and desperate move. I think this speaks volumes of Hikvision as a company, and perhaps shows the writing on the wall when it comes to US sales of Hikua devices.
Just continue to do what you do IPVM!
When you don't speak means you are dead - as most Chinese are...
