Assa Abloy is access control's largest hardware company with vast numbers of access software partners and resellers. Now the company has bought its own access management company, Averics.

Promising acquisition. Hopefully it brings the needed innovation for access control systems.

It will be interesting to see what HID and Mercury OEM partners think of this. While I don't think the product competes with the other Mercury partners at this time I could see many of them question the move and long term objective. I say this because when Allegion purchased Isonas I heard feedback from a number of Allegion OEM partners who were concerned about their long term goals. I also heard this when Allegion Ventures invested into Openpath.
