Arcules Favorability Results 2019

By IPVM Team, Published Mar 08, 2019, 09:26am EST

Arcules has amazing advantages. Tens of millions of funding from Canon. Unlimited access to Milestone's source code (see our test results).

But most integrators have no idea who they are or care about them, as new IPVM statistics show:

And the company has had a rocky start, with significant management turnover and challenges 'starting' up.

Inside this note, we examine the trends and share dozens of integrator comments.

Whats promising is the amount of potential opportunities that exist for those who believe in Cloud vs. those who don't. There is no doubt Cloud compute, storage, VMS, and more importantly Analytics will certainly become mainstream over the next several years for the commercial market. Those who adopt early will see a huge growth ahead for themselves.

What this market lacks, Is the vast majority of integrators ability to wrap their heads around the VSaaS model. Those who adopt this strategy early will be huge Winners and make a ton of $$$ doing so, Those who don't will simply play catch up......

We are working with them very closely and what they have put together so far on video, and now access control, is impressive. They are the first system with both management software and storage in the cloud that looks like it could be the real deal and what customers have been asking for. Still in the evaluation mode, but it is looking extremely promising.

Interesting video - it was clear that Milestone is a frenemy of sorts and is going in a "different direction".  That said, the biggest challenge facing Arcules isn't VMS competitors, but Systems Integrators who are reluctant in moving toward an MRR pricing structure.

Hi

The industry is at a crossroad: High Definition which was the province of enterprise level customer is suddenly available, very cheaply, to consumers... Companies like Nest offer services that would have been the stuff of Sci-Fi only a few years back .. All this because of the power of the Cloud. Security companies have no alternative but to jump in, and try to leverage that power (and its associated subscription model),  to their offerings... You see Cisco trying it with their Meraki offerings and , of course, the subject of this thread CanoMileSAxis; many Access Control Systems are offering some Cloud-type products, from management of Access to management of the credentials ... Thing is security integrators are not yet at ease with the notion ... Their survival is at stakes. The same survival notion applies to the VMS companies ...

This is a new frontier. Their will be changes, some of these cataclysmic. I am not yet comfortable with entire VMS in the cloud. An hybrid seems to be the most sensible course: for example backing up configuration and surveillance files. The Cloud could fulfill the promises of Video Analytics which so far have been expensive toys with more promise than actual results.

This is ineluctable: Most software will move to the Cloud, that includes VMS. It is  a matter of time.
