Removing Internet Explorer Impact on PRC China Video Surveillance Tested
Internet Explorer is being forcibly removed by Microsoft yet many existing PRC China video surveillance systems depend on ActiveX controls or Internet Explorer. What impact does IE's removal have on these systems?
IPVM tested the ActiveX/Internet Explorer requirements from the three largest PRC Manufacturers, Dahua, Hikvision, and Uniview. Inside this note, we examine the following:
- Impact of IE being forcibly removed, and Microsoft Edge IE Compatibility Mode.

- PRC live video support in browsers in 2019 vs. 2023.
- PRC Manufacturers plugin support and related documentation.

They have now made it so you cannot uninstall Edge, but then they also snuck in some Task Schedulers that run constantly. Some on my computer are running every hour and some are once a day. They are looking for Edge updates every 12 hours and I bet one day will just wipe Explorer off your computer. I was wondering why Edge kept updating and kept opening up along when I would open Explorer.
