99 Cent iPhone App

By John Honovich, Published on Aug 18, 2009

For the last few months, we have been examining a number of expensive, premium iPhone ip video applications. By contrast, smartvue's iPhone app [link no longer available] is available for only 99 cents (less than 1 USD). It's big limitation is that the system only connects to cameras and the user needs to manually enter in the URL of the camera's JPG feed. However, for 99 cents, it's an interestingly entry level option for users to consider. On the other hand, it lacks the VMS software integration that LexTech provides for Milestone/OnSSI and Feeling Software has for Genetec.

smartVve is using this as a way to promote their own IP video solution [link no longer available]. It's a clever way and this approach is likely to be a growing force on limiting prices in this market.
