NJ Law Requires Apprenticeship For Public Works Integrators

Published May 24, 2019 16:09 PM

Few integrators do a formal apprenticeship program. However, now a NJ law is requiring any integrator on public works projects (such as state schools, municipal buildings, etc.) to first attend such a program.

However, the state chapter of the Electronic Security Association (ESA), the NJESA says the law could severely restrict the work alarm contractors, including security, life-safety, and surveillance contractors, are able to do.

In this note, we examine:

  • What the language of the law says
  • Whom the law affects
  • Why the NJESA called companies to action
  • What another security industry company says
  • What the NJ Dept of Labor Wage and Hour Compliance division has to say
  • What alarm companies need to do
  • What New Jersey legislators have to say

Required enrollment of "registered" apprenticeship programs - it's evidence of union lobbyist's, their drive to create monopolies and check mate the competition!

I can't believe there's not outrage on this thread! This is a mammoth power grab by politicians on the take from unions. It's sickening that Wage and Hour Compliance "Division" gets to '"decide", all by themselves.

Who's in charge of making sure Wage and Hour Compliance Division is in compliance with anything other than subversive crony favoritism? I guess we'll discover all the unintended consequences and have to create another Division to oversee the Division (at a complete waste of taxpayer money) after a decade destroying the small business entrepreneurs who drive a significant amount of the state's economy. If only we could legislate stupidity, greed and waste out of the legislature.
