My biggest complaint about this camera is the focusing of the lenses. The focus ring is so sensitive that when you go to lock the the thumb screw often times when you look back at the image after you think you have it set the image is a little blurry so you have to get back into it and start over. They need to change this to a remote focus and zoom like some of their other products.

Can you get night video of parking area with moving vehicle similar to the Hanwha PNM review?

We can, but I'm not sure if it will be tonight. We'll queue it up, though.

We just deployed several of these cameras (after waiting for them for several months to arrive).  I wouldn't use them outdoors .

However, I think that they are great for hallway intersections and elevator lobbies. We have them set up in a   |<   type shape, going down each hallway and aiming at each elevator cab.   I like that each head is adjustable,  (hallway mode and verifocal).  So you can go 16x9 for an elevator lobby and  9 x 16 for the hallways

I agree that the focus zoom knob is VERY touchy and I also experienced the vertical up tilt issue..  However, to get basically 4 cameras for $1100 in one package, it's got a lot of things going for it.

I am also worried about installing these outdoors. There are no seals whatsoever. It is wide open from the back. The knockout cover just sits in place. What am I missing? It has an IP66/67 rating with a NEMA 4X rating per the spec sheet.

It does look weird at first, but it's sealed:

  • There are gaskets around the edge of the dome
  • The center compartment where the Ethernet port is located has a gasket on it, and the lid is pressed shut when the dome is tightened.

  • The knockout where the cable enters actually has a grommet as well, which isn't installed from the factory. They recommend it be installed if mounting outdoors (page 11/12 of the install guide):

We have installed many of these outdoors and have not had any issues yet. I was concerned as well because when you first look at the housing it doesn't really appear to be that weather resistant. I will say I also don't like how the network cable comes in when pendant mounted and has to make an immediate U-turn. Not near as bad though as their A8105-E intercom. The network cable has to literally fold in half to make the connection.

We have had no issues in with these cameras in our Manitoba winters.

We have also installed several of these outdoors without any issues. The focus adjustment is very sensitive, but once you get the hang of it, you can do them fairly fast.

VMS Support

All four imagers of the P3707-PE were supported in all VMSes tested: Avigilon Control Center, ExacqVision, Genetec Security Center, Milestone XProtect, and Network Optix NxWitness. Avigilon used four licenses (one for each imager) while other VMSes used only a single license for all four imagers.

Ethan, can you verify this statement regarding NxWitness/Spectrum? I am not sure how to get this cameras four sensors recording under a single license, other than recording the Quad view, which limits me to a single 1080p stream.

All of ours are outdoors as well, no issues. Most of ours are pole/wall mounted and we used the pendant mount kit also, but the main body is sealed with gaskets and the rubber grommet where the cable enters. I've noticed that's typical of most current outdoor axis dome cameras, the dome seals into the camera body with a gasket, but the back mounting plate and the rest of the housing is usually exposed.

We have just deployed these cameras across site at Newcastle International Airport with great results.  Main positives are reduced licence costs for Milestone Corporate, great bandwidth results in busy scenes @12fps and great savings on data cabling required for connectivity.  In an environment where cabling can be labour intensive it makes a huge difference.   Overall, another great addition to the Axis camera family!!

Am I correct that these cameras are NOT IR sensitive?

I'm listening here.. If no day/night filter - outdoor is a no go..

That is correct. It likely has a fixed IR cut filter. I aimed an IR camera directly at it and you can see a purple dot, but that's it.

We have sold a lot of these and our customers seem to like them.  Our installers do not seem to have issues focusing the lenses.

Can the quad view of this camera be separated to get more of a panoramic feel within Lenel OnGuard?

Right now we are using one license associated with a single quad view stream and current setup is not meeting the intent. If 3 additional licenses are needed, that's fine but I'd really like to segregate the quad view of this camera into four unique streams.

I’m not familiar with Lenel, but in Spectrum we use 4 IP Licenses to see each imager as a separate channel. It’s similar to if you had a 4CH encoder with 4 cameras attached.

We are Genetec dealer and in Security Center you get four separate camera views plus a quad view. This is all done with one license. We frequently use these cameras and they work great.
