Jul 25, 2017We allow the IR to automatically adjust unless otherwise noted. In most cases, default settings have performed best in our tests, as was the case here.
We are going to be doing some updated IR testing across multiple manufacturers, though, so will be trying automatic vs. manual modes there.

Jul 25, 2017I think most if not all installlers will use this setting. Just wondering if the extra 10 minutes would create a better night vision.
After all, not all automatic choices work out for the best.

Jul 26, 2017The answer is yes. We manually set up all our HIK IR's and set specific area BLC (timed) for optimum performance. The is a science to good IR illumination and its not rocket science. Increasingly, the skill base is being lost and the rush to wrap up an install with fit and go cameras being installed in day light hours is becoming the norm. The vast majority of installations being carried out are not set up correctly for night viewing and that's not the fault of the manufacturer - but a true measure of installers skill set and commitment to a quality installer.
If a system has not been set up at night - then its not been set up, full stop.
