WOW! Those bitrates are incredible! 192kbps at night? 1080p? Hello long retention times!

John S.,

"The WiseNet X uses Hanwha's new web interface, similar to the P/Q series. The only new additions are options Dynamic FPS (discussed below) and audio classification analytics."

Those aren't the only new additions if you check under the analytics section of the menu. X series offers a massive boost to other analytics such as directional line crossing, intrusion, loitering, and ability to have 8 different lines and polygonal trigger areas simultaneously for object (removed), enter/exit, etc.

You mention this unit has 'audio analytics'. What exactly are they?

Speaking of which - There are several technologies that provide 'shot spotter' capabilities and analysis but they are pretty expensive - and some not real effective yet. Do you see anything on the horizon where the onboard analytics of cameras might fill this much needed security gap in the not too distant future?

The Wisenet X line includes audio classification analytics for gunshot, scream, glass break, and explosion.

We have not tested them thoroughly. Anecdotally, I did try playing some sounds into their audio in and it was more likely than not to classify most things as a scream. Gunshot was spotty. It could be a matter of tuning and/or using a proper mic instead of a line in from an iPhone. We may test them more in the future.

As far as competitors to Shotspotter, there have been a couple of startups pushing gunshot detection, but I don't believe anyone is claiming location like Shotspotter (I could be wrong). Louroe/Audio Intelligence offer gunshot detection as part of their analytics, and Shooter Detection Systems has been exhibiting at shows for the past couple of years (again, haven't tested). I think we're likely to see new entrants here and there, but I don't know that it'll be ubiquitous any time soon.

Hi Ethan,

I am working on a project with sound classification.Does the sound classification from with the Hanwha build-in Mic work?

It would be used in an indoor parking lot and will trigger an alarm to a controlroom.Do you think Hanwha will do the trick and wont cause too much false alarms?

Kind regards,

David

The sound detection and sound classification will work from the built in mic, but you should test it out, as environments vary. You should also ensure that the mic is physically pointing in the right direction, and not into a corner.
