ConvergenceTP (CTP) Claims VMS Integrations Simplified

Published Mar 30, 2017 10:29 AM

Developing integrations with 3rd party systems can be expensive and time consuming, especially in the physical security market with hundreds of different players, most with small market shares and limited experience in integrating with them. Each VMS, for example, typically needs to develop integrations with each of the various access control, security system, ATM, asset tracking, LPR systems, etc. Because of the cost and complexity of this, often these integrations are simply not done at all.

ConvergenceTP (C2P) aims to solve this by doing various 3rd party integrations and then making a single connection to a VMS. The VMS gains from not having to develop each of these integrations themselves. The integrator and end user gain by having more 3rd party integrations available.

In this report, we analyze ConvergenceTP's platform, and describe key features, and limitations, of their integration approach.

Alternative Approaches

The most common alternative to integrating devices into a VMS when no native drivers are available is through POS integrations."

I used this method to make up for Tycos weak Ccure 9000 Exacq Integration. By basically making Ccure 9000 think it was talking to an AD Matrix Switcher.

So do they connect apps together similar to Zapier or do they have their own interface?

Hi Robert,

Zapier is focused on web to web data via apps.

C2P connects to the IP devices and listens to all the traffic coming out via TCP/IP. The C2P engine collects all this data saves it into the database and creates a video stream including the relevant data and transmits it to the VMS. C2P has their web GUI embedded in the VMS client for forensic search.

The concept is to abstract all the different IP appliances to have a common interface when dealing with the VMS. This way the customer doesn't have a learning curve when using it.
