We did some very rough testing of it, playing various sounds into connected mic (which is not a rigorous method of testing by any means). It worked sometimes. Gunshots were fairly accurate, though sometimes interpreted as a scream, oddly. Actual screams were generally always detected as a scream.

We may circle back on it if there's a lot of interest or others start offering something similar.

Great information, and very timely, thank you! I received a demo XNV-6080R from a rep to test against our Axis cameras but I couldn't get it to work with our VideoEdge servers. It doesn't look like it is supported on any version, and neither is H.265. This article just saved me a bunch of time. Thanks again!

Brett, I could be wrong but I don't think Exacq supports H.265 yet.

The camera isn't yet supported by Exacq. We used an H.264 RTSP stream for testing. 

I was a little surprised that it didn't connect using the same Samsung driver as the Q and P series did, but it did not.

Yup, still the same. Profile 1 is JPEG, 2 is H.264, 3 is H.265 by default.

Thank you for this review. Looks like Hanwha built a winner for us end-users.  

I plan to use the tested outdoor XNV-6080R for smaller outdoor scenes and the XND-6080RV for inside our K-12 schools. I'm excited to try the IK08 rated indoor model as it has a built-in microphone that I'd like to use for gunshot detection. Also like the (up to) 120 degree horizontal view.

Update: After discussing this thread with Exacq, they confirmed they do support H.265. It's supported only in a limited number of Wisenet cameras, and not yet the Wisenet X (which they also confirmed uses a different API).

I confirmed this with an H.265 RTSP stream from the camera, properties shown here in Exacq:
