LinkedIn for sure.   Not for groups where the spammers are, but for the "likes“ from my connected peers.

John what were the demographics on the integrators - any specific age group or across the board? Thanks.

IPVM

Janet, we did not track or ask about ages in the survey. It is an interesting point given the reasonable and widely held belief that younger people are web centric, older people print centric, etc. From visually scanning the respondents list, and knowing many of them, most are between 30 and 50.

We have a poll from 2 years ago on ages and the average integrator on IPVM was early 40s. Here's the breakdown from that:

I dont use social media for info, for that we have IPVM. I use FB,Twit,Inst,Linkn as exposure, to get our company name brand out there. Dont expect any business to come out but exposure is what we are hoping for, not sure how successful it has been.

I too have to say I do not use social media with the exception of Linkedin. Even there i just browse to see where other industry professionals are employed and what brands they represent. I don't look for information through social websites as the quality of the information source is unknown to me.falls into that group. I prefer to search my information from sources i know to be accurate and true. I will acquire information from the distributor, factory representative, or other qualified personnel. I have also been professionally active in this business since 1985 and have a strong network, so i will also reach out to other techs whom have experience the product or application previously. IPVM will be my primary source of information in this field moving forward.
