Most well-known for their Ethernet extenders, with their own video surveillance storage offering, Veracity has now acquired a PSIM.

UK-based Veracity has a plan that brings these components together into a solution offering.

CEO Alastair McLeod [link no longer available] spoke with IPVM about Veracity's acquisition of PSIM platform icomply, and how this acquisition will help to build out Veracity's broader strategy.

In this report, we analyze the acquisition and outlook for Veracity.

Wow, that is an interesting purchase. I met Mr. McCleod 4 or 5 years ago at an ASIS show I think. He was a pleasant person and you could tell he took great pride in his company. But how these two solutions are used to leverage each other will be interesting to see.

Good move by Veracity. iComply is used in town centre cctv etc this can only help in the use of veracity products being used in those arenas etc as well. Best of luck to them :)

Is there anyone here that has extensive familiarity with using the long span at maximum distance, if so were there any issues? Such as frozen video feeds, having to recycle power to one of the units in the field etc. I'm paranoid.

This should probably be peeled into a different thread.  In engineering terms paranoid is good.  I have two entire parking decks using a mixture of Veracity, Comnet, and Altronix PACE series.  The ComNet product has been moderately unreliable at long distance.  As units fail I replace with Veracity which has been much more reliable over long distance in various weather conditions.  The Veracity units themselves provide some level of feedback with all of their status lights which is useful when troubleshooting.  The second deck is all Altronix -- I am quite pleased with the product so far though it has only been in place for 4 months though those four months have seen sub zero temperatures in my region.

One note - on longer runs over coax pushing the limit I jump the gauge up.  RG-59<RG-6<RG-11

Thank you for the comforting insight UI#2. Looking at applying the Longspan Ethernet on Cat6, all drops are 140' elevation with additional horizontal runs extending between variables of 300' to 550'. The critical piece is partial or complete failures as each service call will require a 180' boom lift with ground safety spotter. At 50+ overhead 4K cameras the intent is 100% volumetric visibility of this cavern of death. Thanks again.  :D
