I have been thinking that this could be the next thing in surveillance. advanced 360 cameras with augmented reality.

Hi, I'm the Fortem CTO and Founder. Thanks Brian for mentioning our company. 

Hi Robert, I agree, I think within a few years we should start to see more surveillance cameras with depth perception (a-la-Kinect, or Intel/Movidius). Some video analytics algorithms that are very hard with only color and IR images, become really simple when depth information is available, e.g. people counting. They will also make AR and 3D visualizations like ours much more powerful.

Although to be honest, I expected hardware to evolve much faster than it did. Our patents filed in 2009 already mentioned AR headsets that are finally coming to market this year.
