IP67 + IK00, what a strange combination!

Additionally, its housing and cable/connector design make it easy to vandalize or defeat...

I'm thinking the "well-placed" snowball/tennisball threat is fairly minimal; it'd have to be very well placed, and then it makes a big ol' bang and even if you hit it, it will move in some random direction (with any luck, directly at the thrower).

However, the mag mount poses an even greater danger, simple theft.

Considering the cameras are of a known brand, with an identifiable look, are easily removed and cost $200, it won't be long before miscreants start grabbing the low hanging fruit.

Does the cloud/camera even have a tamper/loss of video analytic?

Perhaps they can't be easily reset to obscure prior use and you can just report the theft and wait for your stolen camera to reconnect to the mother ship, before calling the authorities on the unlucky and unsuspecting new owners. Still that won't stop them from being stolen in the first place.

I have to imagine Nest will offer something better than this shortly.

Considering it took them this long to come out with this idiotic piece of junk I highly doubt they have "something" better waiting right around the corner.

Ha! You are right about how long it took. When I said 'better', I was just referring to the mount hardware.

Me and my 3D printer could have something 'better' by this afternoon. I assume they could turn around a locking mechanism in few months. I could be wrong though...

Would you leave one outside your house stuck to the wall like a refrigerator magnet?

What is so difficult about "professional" systems getting reliable analytics that seems to have been easier for Nest?
