Just curious why you would have a camera with IR while the others do not?

We included the integrated IR camera along with two non-IR models because integrated IR is a common low cost option for those wanting low light performance.
The Arecont Stellar cameras performed poorly though in both cases, against the other non-IR cameras and the IR camera.
...the AV1215PM-S did not exhibit the same nuisance behaviors seen in other Arecont models in the past, such as changing rotation, stuck cut filters, or strange white balance issues. If these issues should surface, we will update this report.
Note: The MegaVideo G5 still does not have a reset button.
If one should surface, pls advise...
Well we are on day 7 of these cameras running, and I've had some flipped 180 to see if they would randomly flip back, but none have. That was the most likely issue to me. They're still going, so if we see something, I'll report.
I see Arecont's web interface is still stuck in 2009...
Wow, I wonder what keeps them going. They don't even have price going for them.
I wonder what keeps them going
Multi-imagers. They had a huge head start and still a big lead on total models / options. The overwhelming majority of Arecont's revenue is from multi-imagers plus those multi-imagers are great entry points to get into an account and then pull in single imager sales for the rest.
The HikVision looked strong to me? Very good value
That may be what you want to believe ;)
In all seriousness, integrated IR cameras are so popular for a reason. They provide decent to solid low light performance at very low prices (at least the Asian ones).
There are now very good non-IR low light cameras though not from Arecont and typically combining 1/2" imagers and super low light performance at much higher prices (see: The Super Low Light Shootout).
Hello John. HIKVision have launched their Ultra Low Light performing cameras which they call the 'Darkfighter'. The results are really good, especially for outdoor surveillance at night. It would be good to see the Arecont Stellar test against AXIS Lightfinder, HIKVision Darkfighter and Bosch.
Ameen, we have already tested all of those cameras. For example, see: Hikvision Darkfighter 1/2" Imager Camera Tested
