Note: We are testing the new low cost Hikvision IR PTZ right now and will release that in the next week or two. We did not find about that one until after we bought / started Bosch.
Also, we are doing a Raytec Vario IR test as well, which will be released in the near future.

The Samsung IR PTZ is not a high priority because it is similar specs to the Bosch and Hikvision but twice the price or more than the other two.
Similar specs but maybe not similar performance. I too am interested in the Samsung. I would also like to see the Bosch MIC IP 7000 (Around $5K with illuminator).
John, whats the model number of the PTZ you're testing from Hikvision? Is it from the value or pro series?
Hikvision DS-2DE5220I-AE. I think it's the value line since we bought it for ~$750.
Have you used any of the Hikvision IR PTZs?
Thats a newer one in their value series. We have installed a few without issues, one has been installed on a large construction site for the past three years with zero problems, we've also had good luck with upgrading customers who had old analog PTZs with the TVI HD PTZs. We replaced an Axis Q6035 with a Hikvision when the Axis died and the customer was much happier in terms of price and performance.
Wow, could the customer have logged onto IPVM and voted? Who else could disagree about their happiness? LOL!

I am not sure when or what we will test, though. Question to everyone: What laser PTZs are shipping in NA?
B + H carries a couple Dahua laser PTZ's on 7-10 day special order. Hikvision has had some available in Europe for a while, but probably has not finished testing the lasers on North Americans yet.
Have we thought this thru, cameras with freakin' laser beams?
I shudder to think of the mutual damage that two auto-tracking IR laser PTZs could inflict on each other were they to cross paths in a dark alley. By morning just a lump of charred silicon might remain.;)

I just want to say thank you to Ethan for taking the time to write about this test. It was really informative I think it's interesting how we're seeing more and more exposed IRs like this on cameras. Years ago my father told me integrated IR was a waste. It's amazing how far the technology has come over the years.
Im curious to see how this Bosch compares to other PTZs with integrated IR at 500 feet. To me this is where PTZs can earn their money. Most of our customers who have PTZs use them to monitor places we can't get cameras wired to.
