Useful report, thanks. Techwin's back panel presentation is worse than the Sunnivision DVR, they should have come with a better, good looking DVR.Cameras have a lot better look than Sunnivision.
A few questions:
Is the DVR compatible with the SD DVRs client?
Is it compatible with the SmartViewer Client?
Is the eSATA port functional?

The DVR is compatible with the SmartViewer client, and regarding the eSATA port, the user manual states that users should see the compatibility list of external storage devices or "contact the retailer you purchased the DVR from".
Re: using Internet Explorer only ... I've had success in using Google Chrome with the IE Tab Extension enabled to navigate different web servers from different manufacturers that force you to run Microsoft ActiveX OCX complements in order to see live video. Not sure if it will work on this particular Samsung AHD DVR though... now's your turn to try it :)

As for Samsung, this consumer offering is just not very good. Once Samsung releases their professional AHD offering, we will revisit / compare against Hikvision and Dahua.
Sounds like the intermittent rebooting when multiple cameras cut from day to night at the same instant is simply a the result of an undersized shared power supply not being able to meet the surge of all the cameras IR drawing power simultaneously without starving the DVR.
Easy enough to test just by putting the DVR on its own supply.
Of course this doesn't excuse Techwin in any way, but it may not be much of a practical concern for the majority of installs, since, IMHO, they would often be outside or in different rooms and so not be subject to 3 or 4 or them switching at the exact same instant.
