Steve Wynn said this:

"Las Vegas is a target city. We have hardened the target at the Wynn,” Wynn told 13 Action News. “This is the first time I’ve ever revealed this publicly … there’s a division in the Marine Corps of special people that are specially trained to guard the embassies. That’s a whole division with separate base, separate training. There are almost 40 of them at every opening of my building, plain clothes, armed, on the look-out, changing shift and being relieved every two hours so they don’t get bored.”

Wynn also said he implemented new covert security measures that became operational last summer. "We have another group of a half a dozen seals team six guys and CIA guys who are a counterterrorism unit that ... relate on a daily basis to Homeland Security, the FBI and Metro," he said. "My company has metal detectors and devices at every entrance of the building for employees and guests that are non-visible to the public. We have done extraordinary things to make that sure we protect our employees and our guests at the hotel." [emphasis added]

I created a new topic for this. Anyone know or have any suggestions on what type of non-visible metal detectors they are using?

Sorry, but I have to call BS on my own post...

If these are just regular metal detectors, maybe hooked to snapshot cameras, or even live monitored en masse by Marines, is that very helpful?

I would imagine that detector would be going off at least 50% off the time, triggered by watches, wallets, luggage etc.  With nothing more than a pass/fail?

What you do with that info?

Now maybe Tera-hertz imaging devices might provide some information, but even then what you do, let anything slide that doesn't look like a ticking time-bomb or ask every 3rd person if you can search their stuff?

Clearly a Wynn-lose proposition...

I speculate that Wynn has a few former special forces guys working for him and a fairly respectable security protocol at his prize locations.  I doubt that he has what he claimed in the article.

I also suspect he had WAY too many snifters of 64 year Macallan before the cameras started rolling.
