Would Our Axis Live Camera Gallery Help Integrators?

We have just recently launched so far the biggest live gallery of YouTube live streams from Axis cameras. See https://camstreamer.com/live.

At the moment live gallery consists of more than 600 carefully selected streams from all around the world, new cameras are added continuously.

We aim to give it to the hands of people selling Axis cameras to present what different models can do for their customers. One can e.g. search for all Axis P1448-LE cameras available in gallery, copy https://camstreamer.com/live/search?camera=P1448-LE link from the web and paste it into the quote for the customer.

Would you, system integrators, find it useful for your projects? From my experience it works pretty well when comparing different camera models and presenting them to customers, that are bit blind what all the parameters in datasheets mean.

I always point people towards this type of library for Mobotix customers to help end-users see what a real world install can look like years later. The team at mobotix.ro has done a great job of compiling links and everyone I talk to likes having streams to showcase the products rather than marketing material from the brand in a unrealistic environment.

 

If you can set filters for the types of scenes, devices, and locations then please do!

Hi Clint,

thanks for your feedback on this. Filtering is there ... you can filter per type of scene (construction sites, nature, city, etc.), Axis camera model or you can use full text search. And location can be selected via clicking the camera on the map ... https://camstreamer.com/live/map.

Are Axis cameras only supported? Any future road-map for RTSP streams?

We are loyal to Axis like dogs, sorry. :) It has practical reasons as well ... All our apps run onboard of Axis cameras, no computer needed for interesting tasks our apps take care of. This is the whole beauty of what we do and of course it requires a real in depth knowledge of what is inside the camera enclosure. Working with one vendor makes this job a bit easier.

We stream video out from camera via rtmp, hls or srt protocols. You do not need us for rtsp streaming, this is what probably all cameras provide as a standard.

Besides our streaming app we have an app for dynamic graphics insert (see this camera) and we just recently launched a JavaScript interpreter app (CamScripter App) for many automation tasks and visualization of data from the 3rd party IT systems within the video stream.

I like it but what would the cost be?  We only use 2 models and sell into one vertical so my use of it would be pretty limited. I can see including examples of the video in my presentations so having 2 to 4 video streams would be cool but I imagine there would be a subscription or monthly fee of some kind?  I'd have to see the cost before I'd be interested in it fully.

Hi Meghan,

use of streams in our live gallery is totally free of charge, no subscriptions. Those streams are public YouTube live streams of our customers and we do all this to help our partners to sell more cameras, sell more our apps and at the same time help our customers to get more traffic to their websites, where the streams are embedded. There is something in it for everyone.

Thanks for clarifying. Do we have to be one of your customers in order to use it and in that case, pay the $299.00?  I could definitely use this tool to sell our services which would result in more Axis camera purchases but our application is 100% cellular so I don't see us being one of your customers because the bandwidth cost would kill us. I hate to use your free streams knowing I'm never going to be a customer unless you really don't mind that.  What's the upside for you if people like me take advantage of it but never buy your service?

You really do not have to buy anything from us. :) Just use live gallery for your sales, if you like it. It does not cost us anything extra, but maybe one day you will have a project where our apps will help you to make it a success.

my CFO just asked if that's a potential liability to us i.e. copyright infringement.  Who actually owns the video? I'm assuming these cameras belong to your customers?  In our business, we do construction site security, the video is "owned" by the customer so we can't use their sites on our marketing efforts without their permission.  How does that work with your gallery?  Any copyright laws we need to be concerned with before we use them?

Hi Meghan,

all the streams in live gallery are embeddable YouTube public live streams, that means owners of cameras agreed to the terms and conditions of YouTube for running these streams via YouTube platform. When preparing live gallery this was one of the important aspects of the whole project and thus it was thoroughly discussed with our law firm and confirmed by them, that there were no issues here. So if you want to use these streams in your marketing efforts, you have to follow YouTube terms and conditions as well and you will be OK. This is how it is. :)
