Which Alarm Motion Sensors See Through Windows?

We recently had an installer do a walkthrough of the facility and made the claim that "motion detectors do not trigger through windows". I checked various sources and spoke with individuals, and the results were mainly true, that motion sensors would not trigger on motion outside windows, especially with 'dual tech' sensors (IR and microwave) which mitigate that type of FA.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue? I personally do not, but curious to hear if and how a false alarm arose from motion through windows/glass.
