What VMS Platforms Should We Profile?

Avatar

IPVM has done many tests on the most widely used VMSes (and are planning more). However, we do not have as much coverage on others. A couple good examples are recent profiles of Eocortex/Macroscop and Smartvue

We are also currently working on a post of Digifort.

What other vendors (preferably lesser-know) should we consider profiling? Include some technical details or features (analytics, strategic partnerships, etc) that we should focus on.

Some of these profiles could also potentially turn into in-depth tests.

Can you give me a couple reasons, whether technical related, or business strategy/partners to focus on in regards to LENSEC?

Sean, We have partnered with them on several large projects in KSA and have found the product really holds up. The GUI has more of a PSIM look and feel and all our end users are really pleased with the support. They may not be a large main stream player but certainly in our experiences perform as well as the others. These systems in KSA are over 1000 channels of video so they are not small installations.

LONTECH SYSTEMS • IPVMU Certified

You may consider Vigilant VMS( http://www.vglnt.com/index.php?page=corporate_overview)  and if you can profile the CyberProtekt, a unique system enabling the early detection of Cyber attack threats.

What would you say the primary strength of the Vigilant VMS is?

Do you know if Vigilant developed CyberProtekt or is it OEMed from others?

I would say the management and control of different Vigilant Video management and Monitoring components into single synchronized solution is a primary strength of the Vigilant VMS.

http://www.vglnt.com/index.php?page=products&category=cyber_security

With reference to the link above, Vigilant indicates that it developed CyberProtekt, a unique system enabling the early detection of Cyber attack threats to low voltage end - point elements in an enterprise or organisational network.

Constant scrutiny of the network and its end-point elements - Video surveillance cameras, access control, building management and fire alarms systems, perimeter IP based sensors- enables CyberProtekt to accurately  detect, recognize and analyze imminent cyber- attack threats.

I will highly appreciate to learn on other VMSs that have the same capability.

The more exposure to genetec SC the better for me. The other platforms I work with are March, Verint, Avigilon, Exaq to name a few. March is new to me so that would have a lot of value.

Eocortex FOR SURE

Reason : we found that SI's are looking fore are several things.

Ease of installation/deployment and ease of use for the end user. (obviously)

This is nothing new but when we go in deeper it is the analytics part which is a real differentiator.

We did our own selection and found Eocortex to be our choice for Bussiness.

Just try the following and compare to other VMS.

=> Measure setup time and basic configuration time when applying analytics.

=> Test the front and backend (configuration side) of the VMS and its analytics.

=> Measure complexibility (3th party or inegrated) compared to usabillity.

You will find a suprisingly easy to deploy and use platform.

It would be very helpful for us if you can test Eocortex Video analytics compared to other Video analytics.

Avigilon, Agent VI, Herta,...

- suspect search and tracking (search on color, persons, faces, find similar person in other camera's,...)

- tracking (cross line detection or zone detection)

- face recognition and LPR

Eocortex!

Easy to use and setup comparing to others.

A nice feature to test is 'Hardhat-detection' for construction sites.

Dear Sean,

It would be a good idea to add Eocortex as one of the VMS solutions to be taken into account.

Specially I´m very interested in their people counting module using their new 3D camera (a very popular solution for the accurate analysis of the marketing in stores) and also the failover function that seems a special feature, that we never compared between VMS platforms.

What about Fire detection license? I´ve never tested it before and it seems a worth selling solution for a comercial and maybe industrial environment. Even that I´ve installed lots of different VMS software in the past it is hard to found such a complete list of modules! How are you going to miss it?

As I explained in a previous topic about Eocortex, we´re very pleased to work with this brand for several years and I think that everyone should give it a try and your professional tests and comparison help us to always focus on the best option!

Thank you very much for your interest and proposals.

Eocortex, test how the analytics and search options compare to other VMS eg. Avigilon Appearance Search.

Thanks for the feedback everyone, keep it coming. We have a few of these in the works and are continuing to grow the list.

Verint

It appears, from the outside looking in, that there have been shifts occurring with Verint. With the introduction and transition of their Situational Intelligence offerings and threat protection product suite - it would be interesting to see revenue in their "traditional" VMS portfolio and R&D being spent to keep the video surveillance side of their business viable as compared to some of the other major VMSs on the market today.
