What Value Do You See In ADI Or Anixter Cutting Your Cables?
A recent post in the ADI Blog advertises "Same Day Cable Cutting", and similarly Anixter provides custom cutting, labeling, bundling services. Do you use these services or the same from others and if so how, e.g. one-off runs of cable you do not stock, access control door kits (20 ft of 18/4, 16/2, Cat6, etc), or other?
I don't really see any value in custom cutting cables for us. Unless it's some special cable you rarely use and don't have a need for a 1000' of it then maybe this would be helpful.
I would on use pre-terminated cables for certain oddball connectors. Having a few feet of spare cable does not cost that much and we would probably charge for a whole roll to the job anyway. If we needed 300 feet of 16/2. I would get a 500 ft roll as the estimated length could be off.
2nd for zero. The only cabling we would ever have cut and terminated is burial fiber and I wouldn't trust either Adi or Anixter to be a reliable source for these types of cables. and terminations.
