What Type Of SFP Patch Cable Is Needed?

Hello, I am trying to figure out what type of sfp cable I need.

We are going to use these ubiquiti POE switches.
https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?item=0XP-000A-00019

The client has fiber run between all the switch rooms in their building.

The fiber runs into a rack...

We need a sfp "patch cable" to go from their rack into our ubiquiti switch.

Any idea what type of sftp cable we need?

I do not know if it is multi mode or single mode fiber.

I was simply told that the fiber terminates into some type of "block" in a rack where there is an SFP connection... and that we need a patch cable to go from there into our switch.

Thanks!

Hello Kenny

You need to know if fiber is single mode or multimode.

Or the specification and PN of the SFP for the project.  Hopefully, the SFP was specified to match the fiber type in the project.

I do not know if it is multi mode or single mode fiber.

Multimode fiber is much thicker (~50mm) than singlemode (~10mm). MM is cheaper and typically used for shorter runs.

You need to find out what type of connectors their rack uses, typically ST (like a BNC) or SC (push in).
