What Kind Of Alarm Contact For This Key Box?

We tried putting a wireless door contact on it, and it would show open sometimes. Not sure if it was the size of the contact and the way it made contact with the door or all the metal that was creating a problem. Any suggestions on how to put a contact on this? We already ran a wire, just need to find the right contact. Would a hardwired door contact work better or something like a tamper/plunger switch work better?

The key box is on a 2nd partition so even when the shop is open, only the shop manager can get to the keys.

I would normally suggest a plunger type of tamper switch for this type of application. such as the GRI TS-20 or UTC/Interlogix 3012-N. You could also use any of the wide-gap mini magnetic contacts such as the GRI 50, 50F, or 55F.

Thanks Michael, I was already looking at those. I have it pictured in my mind how to mount it and ADI has both in stock. Ill grab one of each and see how they work out.

I’m hoping you aren’t installing the transmitter in the box.

Actually, we did install the transmitter in the box but I do not think that was the issue. It was a DSC PowerG transmitter, and the keypad/receiver was 10' away. I installed another wireless transmitter on the opposite side of the shop, 170' away and still had full signal.
