What Is Xprotect Max Frames Between Keyframes Mode?

What does this setting change? You can usually only chose default or custom. But what is the consequence of changing this setting? Some people insists that it should be on custom, but the default is to let the driver decide. So I guess Milestone think it is most safe to let the driver decide this. But what does the driver do when it gets to decide? And what's so great about the custom setting?
