What Is Purpose Of A Sun Shield On A Bullet Camera?

This has come up many times over the years and has come up a couple of times again recently.

Is the purpose of a sun shield on a bullet camera to mask sun glare or something else?

Reduces the amount of glare, raindrops and snowflakes that can reach and obscure the glass.

Just that folding a Chinese takeout menu to use as a sunshield is a sign of advanced, stage 4 trunkslamming...

That's what I was getting at. A sunshields primary function is to disperse radiant heat.

Only reason i brought it up is 9 out of 10 I talk to think it's for glare and nothing else.
